IOOF Cemetery= Association

Caddo Mills, Texas

&nb= sp; Members of the IOOF Cemetery Association met Monday, September 4, 2006 in t= he Senior Citizens Center in Caddo Mills, Texas. Members present were President Jim Green, Linda Hess, Rex King, Tony Gavin, Ben Bentley, Harry Garlington and JoNell Garlington. Pres= ident Jim Green presided. Rex King = opened the meeting with prayer.

Linda Hess read the minutes.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Rex King made the motion to accept= the minutes as read; Harry Garlington seconded. Motion carried. JoNell Garlington gave the treasurer’s report stating a balance of $23,121.95 in the checking account as of Sep= tember 4, 2006. Linda Hess = made the motion to accept the treasurer’s report; Tony Gavin seconded.

&nb= sp; President Green gave an update on the roads. He stated that it would be best to= wait until after the election and then request help from Commissioner Green pend= ing his re-election. Ben Bentley = offered to donate a load of asphalt and spread it.= He stated that if a Belly Dump was used, little spreading would be necessary. He also stated tha= t he felt that the City of Caddo Mi= lls would help in this endeavor.

&nb= sp; Harry Garlington nominated Tom Jenkins to become a new member. Ben Bentley seconded. The vote was unanimous.

President Green stated that the gas pipe line had been staked with a total of fifty feet (20 feet north of the pipe line and 30 feet south of the line). President Green stated= that he had written a letter to the gas company with hopes of receiving a donati= on for the upkeep of the easement. To date, he had not received a reply. After much discussion, it was determined that permanent stakes be pl= aced to mark the gas pipe line. It= was determined that eight concrete cinder blocks (haydie blocks) be painted yel= low and placed to mark the boundaries.

President Green stated that the cedar tree in the “little cemetery” had b= een removed. He stated that Dixon Latham would bring a crew and clean the “little cemetery” as so= on as time was available. Ben Be= ntley suggested Community Service workers scheduled with the City of Caddo Mills be sec= ured to help with the clean-up or other needed tasks.

&nb= sp; Tony Gavin stated that he had brought the old part of the cemetery records up to date. Linda Hes= s made the motion for procedures of recording lot sales with Jo Nell Garlington securing the money, recording it in files and giving the information to Tony Gavin to record on the records that he is keeping of all lots in the cemete= ry. Rex King seconded. Motion carried. It was determined that all cemetery records must be secured from the Rentfrow Funeral Home.

&nb= sp; Tony Gavin made the motion to accept the rough draft of the I.O. O. F. C= emetery –Caddo Mills, Texas Bylaws with the change of “Board” to “Board of Trustees.” Ben Bentley seconded. = Motion carried.

&nb= sp; President Green stated that our next step is to prepare the Rules and Regulations for the Cemetery including specifications of curbs, debris remo= val, etc. which would need to be provided to the Rentfrow Funeral Home. It was determined that once a lot = is sold, corners should be marked. Donald Alfred, at present, charges a total of $100.00 ($25.00 per corner). It was recomme= nded that Don Christopher have an opportunity to bid on this service.

&nb= sp; Ben Bentley reminded members of the proposed letter for the newspape= rs encouraging friends and family members of those buried in the cemetery to b= ring their deeds showing ownership. The discussion on sending letters to newspapers requesting information about cemetery lots was tabled until the next meeting.
